What have the Galaxy Been Up to Since I’ve Been Gone? Don’t Ask.

I’m back! I had an amazing time in France but am thrilled to be back in the land of Starbucks, ice water, no smoking zones, the English language and my family. Not necessarily in that order, of course.

So what’s been going on in Galaxyland since I reported on the Colorado win? I don’t think you really want to know.

One of the first things I did when I got back on American soil (during my flipping five-hour layover in NYC in the middle of fifteen hours of flying) was to buy a USA Today and check out the sports section. So let’s see here… After the Colorado game, they had four wins and five draws. After two more games they have…hmmm, okay…here it is…

Four wins and five draws. The only thing that’s changed is the additional two added to the loss column. Ouch.

Looks like I missed an excruciating 3-0 loss to Chivas USA followed by a 3-1 loss to Houston. The worst thing about the Chivas game is it sounds as if the Galaxy didn’t play that badly, with the score at 0-1 until the 89th minute. (How many goals does that make in the final minutes of a half? A lot. That’s how many.) Although it’s hard to defend when you’re trying desperately to equalize and pushing everybody forward.

(Somebody tell me — how did our new boy Israel Sesay do in his first three or four minutes of play?)

The Houston game sounds like more of the same. A not-too-bad first half — the score was 1-1 going into second half — with things falling apart after that.

If you saw the games, give me your thoughts.

And it’s SO GOOD to be home!!!

In the match against Chivas, I saw a ton of sloppy traps, a bazillion passes into nowhere (or into Chivo traffic?!), and Xavier playing defensive midfield. He was a one-man show. Lando was pissed at the ref (with some good cause at times) but looked like he wasn't sure who or where his teammates were, ever. And Martino... grrrr, I hate that guy. My 10 year old observed that they looked like it was a side of eleven who were all playing 1-on-11. You can't even play well, let alone score enough goals to gain a result when you're doing that. I got so frustrated with the sloppy play I just shut my eyes half the time. I couldn't believe this was the same side that beat Colorado the week before. I deleted the Houston match from the DVR after ten minutes... I couldn't take it. I went and watched an old Chelsea match just to remember what normal football looks like.
