Another Friendly? Against Athens? In SEATTLE?!?

aek_athens.jpgIf this happens, you know they’re doing this just for me, right?

Our friends over at SeattleGreeksFC.com are saying that AEK Athens is coming to Seattle. On May 26. And who will they be playing?

The Galaxy, of course! At Qwest field, which is something like ten miles from my house.

You have no idea what mixed feelings this rumor gives me. Yes, I want the guys to rest up for league play. Truly I do.

But… Damn. Seattle!!

(Hat tip to AEK Archives for the link.)

  • Nicole, what makes you say Beckham will be surely called up? He wasn't called up for the Swiss friendly and Capello has made it clear that he does not intend to call him up just for the sake of it.

That has the potential to be either awesome or really disappointing. Hoping for the former. (AEK do pretty good work—unless they have a really bad day, it's largely up to the Galaxy.)

Isn't the proposed England friendly with USA supposed to be on May 28? Surely Becks and Donovan, both, will be called in for that friendly...so will AEK Athens want to play Galaxy without David Beckham? I suppose the Galaxy could refuse to release for the friendly, though, since it's just a friendly and, if I'm not mistaken, it's not on a FIFA date.
  • That sums it up perfectly, Lee.

You know, if the team's healthy, all these friendlies
good be a positive thing getting all those younger
players (and whoever ends up being the 2nd and 3rd
keepers) some playing time. But, if not, it'll be
the death spiral all over again.
