So I Heard a Positive Galaxy Rumor…

By: Laurie | February 22nd, 2008

This is over on big soccer, and I’ve also gotten third-hand confirmation elsewhere, so I assume it’s true.

But I heard that the Gals had a closed door scrimmage with Houston today (Friday) and kicked some Dynamo butt. In a big way. 4-0. Big Soccer says it was against the Houston reserves and we played some of our big guns, like Xavier and Ruiz.

But still. It’s not like we have a lot of big guns anyway, right? And we’re not talking about just squeaking by. We’re talking Galaxy 4-0 Houston.

Even if it’s the Reserves, not bad, eh? Gives us maybe a teensy bit of hope after the other night?

Today is a second game, let’s hope they can show some progress. The first match was a shame.

Are we gluttons for punishment or what? Despite the last game, I’m really looking forward to tonight’s game. Nowhere to go but up, right? If we can string some nice passes together and launch some attacks on goal and actually score, that would be great!

Did you see this “write up”? Apparently Ruiz, Gordon, Sesay (yeah!!) and Randolph scored. Nice!

Nice to see Ruiz, Randolph and Xavier playing, too bad Donovan is out right now. I don’t think it’s panic time, that was the 1st game and they looked much better in the second half, controlling much of the play, while missing key players, although we all know your only as strong as your bench.

But having said that I look forward to the 3rd place game and seeing what they learned from the 1st game and their scrimmage with Houston. Have Faith…………….

I’d cheer anything that increases the team’s confidence and chemistry. And Sesay scored! That kid has potential to be something special. I’m happy he’s flying under the radar right now because when he blows up, it’s going to be in a big way.

I always look forward to a Galaxy game (or any other fave team of mine). I keep tuning in because at some point they will improve and I’d like to see that happen. Hope and faith keeps me coming back despite the setbacks of late.

The bad part about this (to me anyway) is this means
    they probably won’t play tonight.

I’m happy about Sesay as well. I was just thinking that MLS as a whole does not do a good job of developing young players once they join the league. Exhibit A: Quaranta. I hope we do better with Sesay.

I wouldn’t use Quaranta as Exhibit A. Some of the drive and ambition and development has to come from within the player himself. Let’s use Jozy Altidore as Exhibit A? :)
