A Cute Video to Get Us Ready for Chelsea

By: Laurie | July 19th, 2007

Chelsea. Saturday. Are we ready?

Oh, well. If we can’t be ready, we can be entertained. I’m not sure if you will find this as amusing as I do. (I will freely admit that part of my enjoyment stems from the French factor.) This is ostensibly an interview with Lassana Diarra, who has I think three caps as a holding midfielder for the France NT, and if I’m not mistaken plays both holding midfield and rightback for Chelsea. (I’m sure Andy at Chelsea Offside can set me straight if I’m wrong.) He’s been described as the next Claude Makelele, and their playing style at midfield is very similar.

I love this video because it reminds me yet again that these guys are so dang YOUNG. (Diarra is currently twenty-two, and I believe this was made sometime before his most recent birthday.) There’s a lot of media pressure, particularly when you play for a big club like Chelsea, and sometimes the players act like the kids they are.

Enjoy.

I hate Chelsea the Club, but a lot of the player interviews on their YouTube channel amuse me greatly, especially the one where they're asked to identify the best-looking player.
