Good Coach, Bad Coach
By: Laurie | August 22nd, 2007Bob Bradley took Landon Donovan out in the 64th minute when the US was down by a goal. I’m assuming it was at least partially because he recognized that Landon was playing tomorrow and that this was a friendly. And he did it despite the fact that it significantly decreased his team’s chance of getting an equalizer. It was the right thing to do.
Steve McClaren kept David Beckham in for the entire ninety when England was down by a goal, ignoring the fact that this was a friendly and that Beckham is still not fully fit. And also ignoring the fact that Beckham is, like Landon, desperately needed in a game tomorrow. He did this despite the fact that Beckham’s crosses got progressively less accurate as the game went on and he really shouldn’t have continued to play.
The dick.
