McLaren was down 1-2 on England's new 90k trophy stadium and if you've seen any of the media treatment "McClown" has been getting in England, he desperately needed a result in this home game versus their footy arch enemy no.1. Only Gerrard (injured), Owen and Beckham are capable of producing match-winning magic for England, so I'd say he kept him on for desperate, personal reasons. Don’t have to draw such a stretched conclusion.
