Seventeen-year-old Will Get $100 if he Nutmegs Beckham
By: Laurie | November 26th, 2007
Here’s the best story I’ve seen out of Australia so far:
“Nikolas Tsattalios earns almost $600 a week, just collected his P-plates and last Thursday hired a suit for his Year 12 formal.
Beckham’s much anticipated arrival with the LA Galaxy has delivered a remarkable sporting moment, with 17-year-old Tsattalios set to be given the job of shutting down Beckham when he plays against Sydney FC at Telstra Stadium on Tuesday.
“I’ve got a couple of mates promising $100 each if I nutmeg Beckham - I could use that type of cash,” Tsattalios joked.”
The kid is seventeen years old. I have shoes older than that. He’ll probably be starting “in the absence of more experienced team-mates,” because the usual starters are more concerned about league play.
And how does he feel about going up against Beckham?
A desperate Manchester United fan, Tsattalios remembers watching re-runs of Beckham’s brilliance as a three-year-old.
Excellent. Because that won’t make Beckham feel old or anything.
But the best part of all?
“Don’t worry, I’ll be making a big sprint to swap jerseys with him at the end of the match.”
My maternal area just went all warm and fuzzy. Don’t tell anybody.

As long as he gets between the right knee and left ankle (oh heck and the other two as well), best luck to him!

OT: I feel like crying. SanHo just announced trades for Preston Burpo and Kei Kamara. Burpo might bounce around a bit but he’s a vet. His experience is going to be great organizing an entirely new backline.
Kamara is young, fairly athletic (6′2″ 165lb), and praised by all of his coaches for his work-rate. I have a feeling that Yallop unearthed another of his diamonds (a la Ching, DeRo). I can’t help but feel that the Galaxy are in for a rude surpise when we play SanHo for the first time next year. He’s also still on a dev. contract meaning Yallop /still/ had plenty of money to splash on great talent.

Misareaux: You nailed the analysis on the Kamara trade. As for Burpo, I say the jury’s still out (for now).
Especially after I watched that 2003 Quakes game last night (posted on youtube - can you believe it?), I was reminded just how good Yallop can be.

I’m weeping tears of joy and desperation right now.
As a born and bred Sydneysider and an avid Sydney FC fan the win by our team was great to behold.
BUT…and there’s always a but, isn’t there? …
I’m about to leave Sydney soon to move permanently to …. Los Angeles.
Can I please take bring my team with me, then maybe L.A. might win a few ??? Either that or get L.A.’s front office to buy Juninho Paulista and Alex Brosque.
Looking at my plane tickets to L.A. now..OMG what have I done !!!!Posted from

Hey Australians posting on Laurie’s blog: you should write about the A-League on theoffside. I would totally read your shizz every day. The End.
Also, I really want an Aussie or Kiwi in MLS. I don’t care if The Frank or that Ruud Dude make it so at this point.
