Galaxy-Toronto Preview.
By: Laurie | April 13th, 2008Toronto has upgraded this week. If they keep this up, other teams will find, to their shock, that Toronto doesn’t suck. And the world will tilt on its axis and life as we know it will come to an end.
The big news this week was that Toronto signed Amado Guevara. You may recall that this did not work out so well for Chivas last year. (Anyone interested in the Guevara meltdown pool? Click here.) But Toronto is counting on the fact that he’ll have something to prove — that he’ll want to show people that he’s more than a diva with an attitude problem. If that’s true, he’ll want to come in and kick some MLS butt. And we’ll be first on the list.
Other recent Toronto signings apparently include Laurent Robert and Rohan Ricketts. I’m sure that these names will mean more to me after the game. For more Toronto news, check out Toronto Offside, written by my brother-in-blog Nicholas.
As far as the Galaxy goes, we’re missing Charles Alamo, Carlos Ruiz and Ante Jazic. Alvaro Pires is now listed as “probable” with that foot injury.
And the Galaxy are playing at home, which always helps.
I’m not finding an expected roster, but maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places. I’d expect to see pretty much exactly what we saw last week. I’m especially hoping for Vanney-Franklin in central defense, although I’d be curious to see Xavier-Franklin, to see if Xavier’s still got it. What I do not want to see ever again is Vanney-Xavier.
Go Galaxy!

Thanks, George! Of course! I forgot to search out the Galaxy Game Guide.
How could this be? The Game Guide was always one of the highlights of my weeks last year. (And I’m being kind of half-way serious.)

George… Thanks, buddy for providing that link to today’s game-guide. Appreciate it. Okay, I tried to do a little bit more digging on Vardan Adzemian – a “supposed” member of our roster yesterday – but, was not there today! Oooohhh, so mysterious! I swear – I can only chuckle at this “Cloak & Dagger” operundii sometimes. Vardan has his origins (birthplace) from Armenia; but, grew up here in Los Angeles, I believe. He did spend some time with Chicago Fire Reserves, and, then decided to try his luck with the U-21 Greek Club team, Pananthiakos. Then, he came back here and joined up with Ventura County Fusion, and, afterwards Portland Timbers. I just don’t know what field position he plays – since, to me – anyways – it seemed at Ventura County Fusion he was a Forward. And, in Portland Timbers he was a Defender. That’s all I could find out. According, to the guide for today’s match… it looks as if LA Galaxy is going with a 4 – 4 – 2 formation (playing the same folks as the home-opener against San Jose). And, Toronto is seemingly going with a 4 – 3 – 3 formation. Now, in Toronto’s case – they can very well bring in Amado Guevara and Rohan Ricketts as second-half subs. It seems that Mo Johnston and John Carver are interested in getting some goals (points) on the score-board. We have Home Field advantage – but the game is played in the afternoon. So, it’s all about energy conservation, smart runs, and extreme ball posession. I hope… I hope we may get to see the Cuban ex-national trialists play. That would be nice. But, “MUMS” the word at the LA Galaxy web-site and the Official Blog!

Donovan…………….he should have 3 goals in the 1st half and can we finally bring in Wicks and take out Cronin!
we controlled the 1st half and should have more to show for it. but hopefully Donovan’s goal will give him some confidence to take some shots on goal.
