LA-Dallas. At the Half, We’re Down 2-1, w/10 Men
By: Laurie | October 26th, 2008I consider it symbolic of the season that I can’t watch the last match. It’s one of those that’s not available nationally, and even the pirate streams aren’t working for me. (Stupid US betting laws mean that Bet sites have no interest in showing the game to US residents.)
So I’m following the game on MatchTracker, and I’m seeing that we took the lead on an Edson Buddle goal in the 15th, only to see that lead evaporate on goals by Drew Moor (34) and Victor Sikora (39).
Then Alvaro Pires gets ejected in the 40th, and Beckham and Adrian Serioux (remember that rivalry) both get booked for dissent in the 42nd.
Damn, I wish I could see the game. And it’s somehow very fitting, after this pointless season, that I can’t.
If you’re watching, tell me all about it.

And Landon ties it up with a penalty. Does this guarantee him the Golden Boot? How ironic.

Laurie: I once got one of those betting sites working by looking up London area codes then plugging one in. But by that point in the registration, I lost all interest in the game. Mtv generation and all that…
Um, so are the Gals now at the bottom of the League table? Oy vey.

Yeah, that makes us bottom of the barrel. Tied with
San Jose on points and one below on goal differential. The team looked really good in the first 30 minutes but
then the wheels came off. They finished well as Dallas
was bunkering in to get the draw although I have no idea
why as they were also out of the playoffs.Posted from

Hey, just now getting here. I was playing my own game today and couldn’t watch it live — even if I could find it. I can’t believe I’ve seen every game this season except the final game. I kinda wanted to see it to say goodbye to the guys and to the season.
The highlights on mlsnet are pretty good. It looks like we had some good chances and chemistry on offense. And it looks like the usual on defense.

I read on the official blog that since we have a better record head-to-head against San Jose, we are not last place (yay?).

I have to think this is a made up rule to not have Galaxy in last place. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but every league uses Goal differential to rank tied teams.
Don”t believe the MLS BS….we are last place by any measure that has validity. If it wasn’t this “head to head” garbage, they would have said “we don’t do the differential, LA isn’t last because L is before S in the alphabet.MLS not only treats us like ATMs, but like morons.

I think it bears mentioning the Galaxy’s reserve squad has finished last the last two seasons as well..

We essentially ended up in last place, considering that San Jose is an expansion team and were expected to do far worse than they actually did…

And for that matter, as a longtime Galaxy fan, I think we’ve come to deserve and expect with our history that unless we’re first place, we’re the first last place (if that makes sense).

Thanks everyone for making my second MLS season significantly more fun than it would have been if I had limited myself to watching matches!
No matter what other problems there were, I was still touched again last night by how intrepid in the face of some (fair but still) abuse in the press our “kids” were this season. Also how much they had improved since the beginning. I know that doesn’t help the day much and may not even help the team moving forward…but it was something I appreciated watching develop over the season.

This is David Martinez, writer for The Offsides Red Bull blog (or TORB).
I would like to cordially invite all of you to our rickety old bandwagon, and enjoy the pleasures of the bumpiest road trip in the playoffs – The Red Bulls path.
Wine and Cheese will be served, but make sure you hold on tight, as the road will be trecherous.
Laurie, your passport has already been booked.

shocker…beckham was at the STH event last night and actually stayed 1.5 hours to sign autographs…actually the whole team stayed that long, but Becks closed his door on about 150 people still waiting in his line..they (the masses) were not happy..
Arena also spoke on Becks to AC and said Becks would be back for the start of the season! Also the league is starting 2 weeks early and will suspend play for 3 different weeks for WC qualifing games…good start on scheduling…Head Dude for the HDC, said they may not host the X games anymore either! yipee…
Parking prices will remain the same but are hiring new company so that might get better? Same food, same prices.
He didnt say much about Donovan leaving…
