VIDEOS: On the Road: Arizona

The Los Angeles Galaxy media team did a couple of videos while the players were in pre-season training in Arizona. In one they focus on some of the rookies and their new experience as professionals in their first weeks with the team. In another they focus on the ‘keepers and on the long-time relationship between new Galaxy assistant coach Curt Onalfo and Head Coach Bruce Arena.

There isn’t anything earth shattering in either video. You get a lot of platitudes and sports cliches, which seems to be the outcome of the worldwide conquest of ESPN, but there’s also some good footage of folks in training and I did get a real sense of the working relationship between Onalfo and Arena. My favorite part, however focused on the ‘keepers. They are a breed apart and that’s what the video showed. Also: for a 6-foot 4-inch dude, Donovan Ricketts is remarkably soft-spoken and, frankly, that island accent is freakin’ awesome! Also: check out Josh Saunders‘ facial hair! There’s a snarky Twitter update in there someplace!

Finally, the Galaxy were back in SoCal Wednesday and training resumes today in advance of their March 2nd pre-season match in San Diego against Club Tijuana. Season opener March 15th in Seattle!

Here are the vids.
