Beckham vs. The Riot Squad
By: jen |photo London Evening Standard
Beckham did not receive a kind reception from fans in The Riot Squad during the AC Milan match yesterday.
As long as he plays his ass off and keeps the drama down to a minimum then I’m fine with his return to the team. He is definitely fitting in much better (playing-wise) [...]
(Updated with Video) Some thoughts on LA Galaxy vs. AC Milan
By: NathanHJ |Photo by K. Djansezian of Getty Images
I not going to do a real post-game analysis, just leave you with some thoughts and impressions and invite everyone to leave their own.
*****
I’m warming up to the idea that you don’t have to be the best team in the league, just the best team in the stadium. Obviously [...]
Good On Ya, Landon
By: jen |Our very own, freakishly skilled, Landon Donovan received his 100th cap for the USMNT yesterday at Giants Stadium against #1 in the world ranked Argentina. Although it’s arguable that it’s easier to reach 100 caps when playing for the US (where the competition for caps has been weaker than for other world teams, like [...]
Galaxy Host Rapids in Open Cup
By: jen |And Sideline Views will save the day. The game is not being televised and is only being broadcast via Spanish radio, so head on over to Sideline Views at 7:30 PST for some great liveblogging. (Correction: The Galaxy site will have the English radio broadcast.)
Both Landon and Becks have reunited with their respective national [...]
Galaxy v Whitecaps Review
By: jen |Not a bad outing overall. Wicks was fantastic in goal. How I’d love to see him start an MLS game!
This Edmonton Journal article captures the game well.
Playing minus Carlos Ruiz and Landon Donovan, Major League Soccer’s leading goal scorer (thanks hugely to Beckham) and with a full set of second stringers, the Galaxy [...]
O Canada! Beckham is on his way!
By: jen |Our Galaxy will play the Vancouver Whitecaps Tuesday night, 9pm Eastern, in an exhibition match. This game is a rescheduling of the game scheduled for last season but postponed because of Beckham’s injuries.
I’ve poked around on cbcsports.ca to see if there will be a video of it and I can’t quite tell. If [...]
Three Galaxy Guys Going to U23 Squad
By: jen |Mike Gavin, Bryan Jordan, and Julian Valentin will be playing for Peter Nowak in this month’s Toulon Tournament. The U.S. U23 squad will be playing Turkey May 21, Ivory Coast May 23 and Italy May 25.
Nowak says he wants to see more talent and team options before naming his Olympic squad.
This is great news [...]
News Before it Happens: Landon to Create an International Incident
By: Laurie |Just in case you don’t read the comments, reader PocketKings has this theory about how the Galaxy-Iran friendly will play out:
AP Newswire – This just in, Landon Donovan creates international incident when he purposely crosses himself 50 million times before taking a penalty kick. After completing his hat trick, Donovan mimics the use of a [...]
The Galaxy to do Battle with the Axis of Evil?
By: Laurie |Do we want to paint this in deep, dark philosophical terms, or is it just another high-profile Galaxy friendly?
Whatever. Our boys are apparently going to play Iran in May. (Despite previous Galaxy front office protestations to the contrary.)
Iran. You know. The country that won’t let women come [...]
Ruud Says the Galaxy Can’t do Sexy Football
By: Laurie |My headline is almost directly from TimesOnline (UK.) Inflammatory, no?
And it’s too bad, too, because the article is fascinating — all about Ruud’s culture shock in coming to the land of the salary cap.
One of the most interesting parts is about the trials and tribulations of fielding a Reserve [...]
