A Beckham Photo That Left Me Speechless. (Yes, it is possible.)
By: Laurie | November 5th, 2007
I have no words, so I’ll leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions. And feel free to leave your own caption in the comments.
But I will say this: Who knew playing Hollywood United could be so exciting!
(Damn, I’m a horrible person.)

Oh dear.
And next your boys get to come out to New Zealand and play in Wellington. I wonder if Second Choice Steve will come along to this one too.

I was at that game and it was so much fun! 12 to 4! Let’s see — hat trick by Buddle; two goals each from Beckham, Klein, and Mike Caso; one each from Vagenas, Harmse, and Cobi. Plus, with the small crowd we got to go up front and get autographs from Cannon and Cobi!Awesome.

Also, Pavon looked pitiful out there. It’s amazing that the top goalscorer in Mexico wasn’t able to do anything last night.

George, I’m jealous!!

Beckham: he’s huge in Japan.

Pavon has never played in mexico and he is from honduras.

How could he have missed that? That was a GREAT pass!

No comment. The first time I saw this post, I thought you were talking about the fact that he looked so tired after playing Lalas and his HU buddies. Just your luck, you catch me the one day my mind ISN’T automatically in the gutter.

Actually, Pavon DID play in Mexico and was the top goalscorer in 1997.
Here’s the super-accurate Wikipedia to prove it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Pav%C3%B3nNo, I did not just edit it to make myself seem correct.

So that’s how you get those smileys…

I’d be surprised if the top goalscorer in Mexico last year or the year before couldn’t do anything in a US match … but Pavon was the top scorer 10 years ago. That’s a bit of time to an athlete.

Yes, but you’d think Pavon would keep some of the talent. Nowadays, he just keeps losing the ball whenever he gets it. Anyway, the guys on HU are older than him, but even so he failed to do anything productive. I was just surprised how a guy who scored 4 goals in one game of the Gold Cup just before coming to LA could play so poorly. A chemistry issue? I really don’t know.

Ian, you must always look at the big picture when you’re here.
Actually, I did the same thing when Bob sent me the link. I’m scrolling down thinking, “Yeah, big deal, it’s Beckham, it’s Beckham, it’s… Holy Crap!”

And I think we were all kind of hoping for a SuperPippo with Pavon. Yeah, maybe at this age he wouldn’t be worth much outside of the box, but he’d at least be able to position himself when he was there and drive in the balls that came near him. Sadly, aside from those tantalizing two goals during that RBNY game in New York, that hasn’t been the case.

George, you have now experience Smiley Magic.
Be careful. You must use this power only for good.
