Beckham’s US Football Debut

By: Laurie | June 27th, 2007

The Adidas “Futbol meets Football” campaign with Beckham has been all over the web these past few days. I’ve been ignoring it because it looked so stupid. Beckham in a an American football jersey? Puh-leeze. (Which is why I’m not posting the photos. Find them somewhere else.) Then Bob posted the video this morning and I found myself surprisingly entertained.

My only comment: Reggie Bush is a whole lot better with his feet than Beckham is with his hands.

Well, that's what I've always called it anyway. There should be an international keepy-uppy cup ... judged on time, number of bounces and for style. At current Olympic standards for the definition of "sport", it'll be in by London 2012.
  • Thank you, Ian, for supplying is with the technical term "keepy-uppy." I, for one, had always wondered about this and will be eternally in your debt.

Hey, I won't stand up for Becks many times, but that keepy-uppy balancing the American football on his neck, if it really was the first time he's tried it, was pretty incredible. As a dedicated keepy-uppy fan, I was stoked.
