The First Galaxy Limerick of 2008, Dedicated to Missed Opportunity

By: Laurie | April 10th, 2008

After watching the Galaxy-San Jose game, I have been inspired to write my first Galaxy limerick of 2008.

No, don’t thank me. It’s what I do.

The Limerick Dedicated
to Alan Gordon’s Wayward Laces

The Galaxy send the ball through
And the players all know what to do
The HDC rocks
’cause the ball’s in the box
But Gordon is tying his shoe

  • I wish these rhymes werent about San Jose
That game was the worst I must say
    Tomorrow We'll try
    To kiss Thursday goodbye
And win one at home in the Yay

(from the top of my head, not the greatest I know)

    Then let me venture another:

Beckham's goal was a nice one, I'd say
    Defenders beware if you stray
    You err at your peril
    With Landon (that devil)
And Beckham to put it away
  • Bravo, Dick!!

We should all work to capture this season in limerick form. :-)

    Laurie:

You've inspired me to try my first-ever limerick

Beckham taps the ball into space
    As Donovan sprints on apace
    Past a back (standing still?)
To a great chip that will
Leave Cannon with egg on his face
  • Dick
    World class limerick.
  • Ooh, I've started a multi-continental Galaxy limerick trend!!

A UK friend, whom i took to the game, come up with the following. Might need some work, but you get the idea:
    Ode to Alan
Gordon shoots and he misses, aw shucks
Runs away from the ball, then he clucks
    No technique, wirey frame
    Ties his shoelace all game
That's why D.Beckham earns the big bucks!
  • Lee
Yeah, I'm not one of the Gordon bashers but this
    was seriously funny.
  • Nathanhj
    Effing classic!
  • jen
Okay, I have to post again. Because this is seriously the most you've ever made me laugh!! And that's saying a lot, because you make me laugh regularly!
  • jen
Oh boy! That's brilliant!!! Oh my! You just got some big belly laughs outta me.

As long as he's subbed out at about 65 minutes then I think we'll be okay.
