Halfway Through My You-Know-Who News Blackout

By: Laurie | July 11th, 2007

Well, here we are. Twenty-four hours into our forty-eight hours of abstinence. Forty-eight hours without mentioning that name.

Wait, what? You ARE abstaining with me, aren’t you? Of course you are. Because we all know that abstinence makes the heart grow fonder, and our goal is to head into Friday’s exciting introduction with fond hearts. Isn’t that our goal? Of course it is.

This is tough, folks. There’s a new magazine spread with trashy photos that I won’t be able to share till tomorrow. And yesterday the top two posts on Soccerblogs.net were mine, and they were both related to…him. Today the honors go to bloggers other than myself. Bloggers who are not abstaining. Bloggers who…who…suck.

Not that I’m bitter or regretting my stand or anything.

But I am moving on. I am skipping over those top two blog posts. I am moving on to blog post #3, the third most-hit post from the Soccerblogs site. And that post is…let’s see…

“Premiership players addicted to internet porn, says some American idiot.”

Hmm… Does this feel like a karmic reward for our virtue or what?

(P.S. The “American idiot” is Jim Rome. ‘Nuff said.)

Good work so far, and stay strong! You did well to step carefully around some deep pitfalls today.

I’m especially impressed that you completely ignored the eBay auction of the newly found video with Becks and Zizou at Madrid from last year. You know, the one where they’re “clowning around” in the locker?

Deep breaths! And remember; too much DB and you’ll go blind.

Laurie, I just saw an interview with Abel about He Who Shall Not Be Mentioned and … it was subtitled. On Portuguese TV. Thoughts, please.

(And Mike, don’t tease her like that. You’ll feel bad if her head explodes and the blog just sits here, staring accusingly at you from its endless Becks break.)
