Bono Whores Himself Out for the Spice Girls
By: Laurie | October 2nd, 2007
Up until today I had a huge amount of respect for Bono, frontman for the group U2. I was in complete agreement with Time Magazine last year when they named him (along with Bill and Melinda Gates) as a Person of the Year for his work fighting HIV and poverty in the third world.
But, alas, he is now proving the old adage that everyone’s a whore given the right price. He’s writing a song for the “Spice Girls Greatest Hits” album, due out next month from Victoria Beckham and her fellow Spices.
Umm… Maybe I’m being a little too technical here, but in order for something to be a “Greatest” hit, doesn’t it first have to be a “hit”? Or am I missing something?
“There’s been a bit of unease as to how the album will perform and if there’s still a solid Spice Girls’ fan base out there.
“Bono’s involvement has lifted the whole camp and he’s delighted to have been asked and add his experience.”
Plus I’m sure Victoria promised him free sunglasses. That had to be the main selling point.
But at least he’ll be in good company. Rumor has it that George Michael (you know, from Wham!) will also be writing the girls a song. So we have that to look forward to.

Jeff Bull - I love yer blog. Also, um, I totally saw Spice World in the theater (which introduced me to awesome Alan Cumming) and my friends and I had our own spice names (I was grumpy spice). But this whole reunion thing is just wrong wrong wrong. I was one of the many who voted to send them to Iraq for their tour and each new story and/or gimic about this fiasco just makes me effin mad. But I do have to admit, Mel C is on fire on that dancing show.
