Ladies and Gents, Kickette Needs You!
By: Laurie | November 3rd, 2007No, this has nothing to do with the Galaxy. Except for the fact that Kickette is a huge Beckham fan. Plus, as I have said repeatedly, she is my favorite guilty pleasure. And where else would I go for my several-times-a-week dose of WAG snark?
A site called The 2007 Weblog Awards if giving the award for best UK blog, and Kickette is up for it. And guess what? You don’t have to be from the UK to vote.
She is currently being beaten due to the voting habits of those who have no taste, and I am looking to you, dear readers, to fix this. Go now and vote, vote, vote!!
And for the record, if any of you tuned into this blog early this morning and, for a short time, saw a post that said I was leaving? Don’t believe it. It was a typo. OR: It was my evil twin stealing my password. OR: It was additional proof, should you need it, that one should never make important decisions when one has a family member in the hospital and one is otherwise having a rotten week.
In short, I am still here.

Thanks for not leaving (whew!). Hope your family is ok.
I voted! But, I have to admit, I was not pleased with Ms. Kickette putting Boswell on their hottest footballers shortlist. That guy is straight ugly douchebag trash - and it seems a crap defender too now.

Melissa, I’m undecided about Boswell. His website is so sweet, and yet I’m still not sure whether I like him or not. I think I like his website but don’t like him on the field. Although I do feel bad for him about the game on Thursday, even though I wanted Chicago to win.

Thanks Laurie! Sending you a virtual air kiss.
In person Mr. Boswell is entertaining and great fun and definitely cute. Standing by our shortlist decision! That said, we’ve never seen a DC United game in our life, and watching a player on the pitch has made/ruined many a fantasy for us.

Oh, and thanks for the kind thoughts. It was my mom in the hospital with congestive heart failure, but she was released yesterday and seems to be doing well. She’s a tough, stubborn ol’ bird. It’s a family trait.

Good to hear that your mom is okay, Laurie. About Boswell, over at the DC United offside, the blogger was complaining about how all the comments criticizing Boswell’s performance this season were taken down. Hmm.
Anyway, I voted since I too read Kickette on a daily basis. I’ve having a tough time battling my fascination with Alex Curran.

Inara, my bizarre fascination is with Colleen McLoughlin. I have no explanation.
I saw that about the Boswell comments too. On the one hand, sure, he has to feel awful, why rub it in. On the other, though… Well, man up. Criticism is part of the game. Either shut off all comments or allow them all. No cherrypicking to make yourself look good.

The whole website censorship deal is why I went off on Boswell earlier… I realize I didn’t specify (oops). I say it trumps whether he’s cute (don’t see the appeal, sorry) or fun because if he decides to dish out little jabs and unsults regularly, then he certainly should expect to take them when his chips are down. Just demostrates a shitty character overall. Personal opinion. Also, Bocanegra really needed to be in the final five. I demand a recount.

Looks like Kickette is third and rising, thanks to all the votes (including mine) you’re sending her way. To be honest, I don’t really care about this award much and probably wouldn’t have voted if you didn’t provide an oh-so-convenient link, but it’s all about winning the neutrals, right? Good to hear your Mom is doing better.

Best to your mom, Laurie. Let us know if you need help…that is if you would actually consider some of the things we say helpful to you as a blogger ;-)! Maybe a contest to see who sends in the joke that makes you laugh most during trying times, another scary thought…Anyway, best wishes at least.

I get it now. I saw the “I’m outta here” post, but it was gone before I saw the real deal. Well, glad to hear you’re sticking around. Tough on the thing with your mom, though. Tell her a bunch of half-anonymous strangers wish her the best.
