Question for Techies: Why Does MLSnet Video Not Work?
By: Laurie | April 25th, 2007I have a question for any techies out there. (And this is not just a rant — I’d really like an answer.) Why does the MLSnet broadband video not work?
I decided to try to catch the KC-Toronto game tonight. (I figured why not get a bit of my money’s worth, even though they offer next to no Galaxy games.) I tuned in at about 35 minutes. And from 35 minutes up through 75 minutes, including halftime, the longest feed I got was approximately 30 seconds. Then the screen would freeze up, and after a couple of minutes of frozen screen it would dump me out. (I wasn’t sitting at the computer waiting — I had it running while I was doing other things, since it was kind of pointless to sit and stare at a dead screen.) Then I’d re-enter the system and start the whole process again. To get the screen moving again I’d have to get out of the system altogether and re-enter. And even that didn’t always work. (It did start working, for the most part, at about 75 minutes, running for up to five minutes without freezing.)
This happened when I accessed the system through both AOL and Internet Explorer, and on two different computers.
So what’s the deal here? I’ve accessed soccer games through several broadband systems over the past year or so: Setanta, UEFA.com (which outsources, but I can’t remember through who — ESPN maybe? — JumpTV… I’ve had minor, shortlived problems before, but nothing like this.
So I’d love to know: What’s the problem?
