The MLSnet Saga Again. (I Just Want What I Paid For!!)
By: Laurie | March 13th, 2007
Can you stand one more chapter in the saga of me trying to get MLS to let me watch the 2006 games? I am SO flipping frustrated!
The last time I wrote about this, I’d sent two e-mails (which had both gone unanswered) and spent time on the helpline with two different helpline guys. Both guys assured me that the problem was on their end and would be fixed within hours. Honest! (Remember, I ordered the service more than a month and a half ago.)
So after waiting a couple of weeks each time, I called again last week. The guy I spoke to this time assured me that the links were actually working and that the problem must be on my end. I told him this wasn’t the case, but he was convincing and we went through some computer settings changes that he assured me would allow me to watch my games. Still no luck.
So he went in on HIS computer and guess what? No links. Just like I’d been trying to tell him. So he went and talked to his supervisor and she told him that I must have purchased the 2007 package, and the reason I couldn’t access anything was that the 2007 season hadn’t started yet! (Wow! Thanks! I hadn’t realized the teams weren’t actually, y’know, playing at this time.)
It took me awhile to convince him that no, I’d signed up for 2006. And that, while I would absolutely love to have access to all the 2007 games for $9.95, that wasn’t what had been offered. (It doesn’t help that the receipt doesn’t actually specify what I purchased, or that now that I’ve bought it the site won’t send the offer to this ISP address again so I can see what I’d signed up for. Anybody want to do some research for me?)
So my support guy talked to his supervisor again, ended up thoroughly confused, then said he’d call back. Within three hours! He swore!
Of course, no phone call.
Truly, I have no idea what to do next. The contact information we’re given obviously goes to people who have technical knowledge (and blessedly speak English as their first language) but who have no info whatsoever on the big picture of what it is they’re offering. They don’t work for MLSnet, they just contract to multiple video services. Contacting them over and over again does no good. But I have no clue where I should take it next.
This has become an issue far beyond my $9.95, and far beyond me wanting to see the 2006 games. (I figure I’d probably watch maybe two or three altogether to get an idea of the playing styles of each of our guys, etc. and then move on to my next obsession.) But now it has become The Principle of the Thing.
So. What should I do now?
