Galaxy Jerseys in Japan?
By: Laurie | September 26th, 2007I got the following e-mail from reader Phil:
I was in Japan last week and I saw the LA Galaxy jersey proudly displayed for sale alongside the likes of Manchester United and FC Barcelona.
This news gives me very mixed emotions. I feel a little like a six-year-old wearing his older brother’s high school football jersey. I’m thrilled! We’ve arrived! And yet… At 5-13-6, we haven’t actually arrived yet, have we? What we are, currently, is a below-average team with one (non-playing) superstar player.
I’m looking forward to the day where I feel we belong in the company of ManU and Barcelona. (And by this I mean I hope that our standard of play goes up, not that I want ManU and Barca to sink to our level. Although ManU’s Cristiano Ronaldo pisses me off on general principle and does inspire the occasional bout of ManU-related schadenfreude. And on that note, did you hear they lost their Carling Cup match to Coventry?!? Heehee)
But back to the Galaxy. Perhaps next year will be the the year we truly arrive in places like Japan.
You know. When we get Zidane.
(Hey, hope springs eternal.)
And completely off topic, I love to get e-mails from you guys. Thanks, Phil!
(Again, Lagalaxy[at]theoffside[dot]com.)
