We Are Looking for a Beckham Blogger
By: Laurie | May 3rd, 2008
First and most important: Stop back by here around 6:00 Pacific if you’re watching the game at home. (Or, I suppose, if you’re watching somewhere else but have an internet connection.) Leave lots of comments. It’s always more fun to have company while I’m watching, and I consider you guys are my own personal online soccer bar.
I may be liveblogging the game — I’m out all day, so we’ll see how much energy I have. I need to get some liveblogging practice in before Euros, when we’ll be liveblogging all of the games over on our brand spankin’ new Euro page at World Cup Blog. (Stop by and say hi and vote for your favorite team.)
But now the point of this post: The Offside is starting up player blogs for specific, very popular players, and we’re looking for a Beckham blogger. Beckham blogger: n. Somebody to write a blog devoted to David Beckham.
I would love to see it be done by a reader of this blog, because I’d personally love to see it in the hands of somebody who loves the player, the team and the game. And not necessarily in that order. I know there’s somebody out there reading this who fits the bill.
If you’d like to see what’s involved, you can check out our first player blog, the Cristiano Ronaldo blog, which has been up and running a couple of weeks. I think Ale, our CR7 blogger, finds a good balance between all the aspects of the player and his play.
And no, this will not change how I write this blog, although I do see myself linking to the Beckham blog on a regular basis when we cover the same topics.
This isn’t a paid position, but it’s fun. If you’re interested, drop a note and a sample post to our editor Daryl at daryl[at]theoffside[dot]com.
Looking forward to blogging with you!

Checking the link to the CR7 page, of course he’s rich and offensive, but that house looks like half the other houses in Alderley Edge, only with newer bricks and windows, and possibly a bit bigger than non-baller houses, should there be many left. Most of ManU — with the occasional addition of the odd Man City and Liverpool player — has gutted, torn down, and rebuilt apartments and houses there at one time or the other over the years.
Watching the UK show on footballers’ houses was as scary as “Cribs” over here. Which I never got to see, damn, and must now settle for House Hunters.
Whatevs. Laurie, its clear from this note that I can’t even leave your blog long enough to make the comments relevant to stories, that appear elsewhere, on the blog they are posted. Separation anxiety.
Can’t blog, but if someone else signs up, I’m happy to provide my random trivias on the Becks page. Probably saving your innocent visitors many brains cells they had planned to use elsewhere.
BEST LUCK TO OUR BOYS ON PLASTIC!

Hmm. I never thought of Jen as a Beckham fangirl, but in this case that’s probably a good thing. Let’s see…
Knowledgeable? Check
Fan of the game? Check
Fan of the Galaxy and it players, including Becks? Check
Warped sense of humor? Would she be the Official LA Galaxy Offside guest blogger otherwise?Interesting thought. Jen?

Very, very flattered and interested. Let me think on it for a bit and get back to you before putting my name in the hat. I’ll check out CRon’s page later today when I get a few moments to myself.

I haven’t noticed too many fan boy/girls around these blogs, that’s why they’re so enjoyable.
