A Fun Ante Jazić Interview
By: Laurie | May 2nd, 2007
Ante Jazić is fast becoming one of my favorite players. (Shhh! Don’t tell the rest of the guys!) Part of it is my completely irrational attachment to the leftback position. Seriously, I have no idea why this is, but if you are a leftback you have to really screw up repeatedly in order for me to not like you. Kind of like my irrational attachment to 4-3-3. Don’t question it. It just is, okay?
But part of it is that I also really like the way Jazić plays. Marauding up the touchline, sending off those crosses… (Which is, of course, what a leftback does. Which is why I like leftbacks. *Happy sigh.* But I digress.) So yes, I enjoy watching Ante play. Plus he has a cool name. And he shares a birthday with my brother — February 26. AND he’s Canadian. So what’s not to like? And the guy has played all over: Croatia, Vienna, Russia… And now the Galaxy, where he’s reunited with his old coach from the Canadian NT, Frank Yallop.
Jazić trivia: He has fifteen caps for the Canadian National team, but he could also have played for Croatia.
So I really enjoyed reading this interview with Ante from LA Soccer News.
The best quote:
LASN: Would you ever be tempted to join up if Nova Scotia got an MLS team?
Jazic: (laughing) Never. I’m not going to leave Los Angeles. I’ve already said, if I get traded, I’m retiring. I’m already started taking pool maintenance and gardening classes.
