And Now I Bring You an Abel Xavier Limerick

By: Laurie | June 15th, 2007

To continue my Abel Xavier theme of the day, I bring you my favorite form of poetry:

A limerick.

Seriously, I love limericks. When I get fed up with life, I console myself with dreams of moving to Nantucket and starting a limerick festival. But I digress.

A Tribute to New Galaxy Player Abel Xavier
in Limerick Form

LA’s back line was unstable
And they’d sunk to the depths of the table
But the guy with the hair
Should fix things up there
Time will tell whether Abel is able

There! You’ve read not one but TWO poems in one day! How often does that happen? Aren’t you feeling all cultured and stuff?

One of many services I offer.

Or, as the Google-Japanese would say:

The back section line of LA’S was unstable and as for those it can designate [aberu] as because thing of the predicament which sinks to the depth of the person who loads the table hair raises there, whether or not if the time it comes, it is understood

Just wanted to say I appreciated that Nantucket joke – I’m curious as to how many people got it, because there’s a local Nantucket joke that often gets confused with the limerick (not nearly as funny).

And you can borrow my “I’m the man from Nantucket….” t-shirt anytime you’d like. The best part about it is I’m from the area and spent a lot of time on the island as a kid – so I could look completely oblivious when somebody mentioned it and then say, “But I am from Nantucket.” It’s the little things that make life worth living.

    Re: The Nantucket thing.

I subscribe to the Simpsons/Frasier theory of humor writing: Never explain anything. If people don’t get it, they don’t get it. And then the ones who do get it can feel smugly superior to everybody else.

Because don’t you feel superior for knowing what I meant, Mr. Nantucket?
