Arena Named Coach of the Year
By: jen | November 11th, 2009
And boy does he deserve it! The man is a miracle worker.
Good on ya, Bruce. Keep Klein in the line up for Friday and let’s kick some Houston ass!
More on the story from Nick Green.

This had to be the easiest choice for the voters to make in all the post-season awards. Worst-to-first in his first full season in charge of the G-men, cutting the number of goals allowed in half, setting a club record with 12 shutouts in a season, and getting his team to the Western Conference finals. All done with a roster hampered by the extravagant amount of salary-cap space lavished on just two players. Not bad.
Also consider this: First 13 games, the team was 1-1-11. Next 17 it was 11-5-1. And no wonder. 16 of the 26 players on the roster are new to the team this year.

And the best press conference sense of humor ever. With a NY accent of course

Congrats to Arena! Also, congrats to Omar G. who was named Rookie of the Year today! Next up, LD…MVP and of course, the MLS Cup! That would make it a Grand Slam of Awards for the G’s.
