Congrats to Arena! Also, congrats to Omar G. who was named Rookie of the Year today! Next up, LD...MVP and of course, the MLS Cup! That would make it a Grand Slam of Awards for the G's.

This had to be the easiest choice for the voters to make in all the post-season awards. Worst-to-first in his first full season in charge of the G-men, cutting the number of goals allowed in half, setting a club record with 12 shutouts in a season, and getting his team to the Western Conference finals. All done with a roster hampered by the extravagant amount of salary-cap space lavished on just two players. Not bad.

Also consider this: First 13 games, the team was 1-1-11. Next 17 it was 11-5-1. And no wonder. 16 of the 26 players on the roster are new to the team this year.
