Bad Memories: SuperClasico (and that Marsch/Beckham Dustup)

By: Laurie | April 24th, 2008

I’m not sure why I’m posting this video. It definitely has some bad memories attached. But maybe we should all watch this as a reminder that this year has to be better than last?

Plus it’s interesting to see where we were less than a year ago. Remember the Beckham injury? The Beckham jetlag after playing for England? The Jesse Marsch tackle? Kevin Harmse getting headbutted?

(And seeing Kyle Martino in a Galaxy jersey makes me want to cry. Anybody know what he’s up to these days?)

Looking on the bright side this year, we have Beckham for the whole year, and Beckham and Donovan are clicking. And there is no way they’re going to make the midseason trades they did last year.

Right? Tell me I’m right.

Let's pay someone to take Gordon. If the Galaxy won't spring for it, we can take up a collection from the fans.

if another team would just take Gordon of our hands, that's enough for me :p

That's funny that you posted this video because I was just watching it and thinking it would be a good reminder to see again.

I think Pete Vagenas has got some sort of deal with the Galaxy. He is from the area (my former chiropractor is friends with his mother). So I'm thinking he's sort of doing a Cobi Jones and is going to complete his career in LA.

I like the steer for Gordon idea. Then we can have a barbecue for the fans and celebrate Gordon's departure.

Tears for Martino? You mean you miss him? Really? Personally, every game is a happier game without Martino. That hack was just a distraction in the mid-field. Now, if we can just get rid of Gordon, who lopes around and fouls more than he plays, then I'll finally be happy with the roster.

Vagenas must know someone high up in the Galaxy organization cause that guy seems untradable regardless of how he plays.

The only reason they aren't going to make mid-season trades is because no one wants any of their players, with three obvious exceptions. And those three aren't going anywhere.

But I would certainly entertain ANY offer for Alan Gordon, even that one from a year or so ago in the Romanian 3rd Division where one team traded a star player for a steer so the team could eat.

    Mmmmm. Steer.
