Because Super Bowl Fans REALLY Care About Soccer

By: Laurie | January 24th, 2007

beckham2.jpgI tend to lose interest in the Super Bowl when my teams get knocked out. Which is usually before the playoffs. But I guess I have to watch this one, because guess who’s getting interviewed? That would be our David Beckham. Yes, during the game.

CBS and the Super Bowl won out over Jay Leno and Oprah (OPRAH?!?! Hey, THERE’s a soccer-crazy audience!) for the rights to Beckham’s first US interview.

From the Mirror article: “A source close to the Beckhams said: ‘This is the big one. Nobody leaves their house when the superbowl is on.’”

No, but they do get up to get more beer, make guacamole, and use the loo…

Uh-oh. Did I allow my pessimism to show? Sorry! What I actually meant was: WOW! Eighty million people will be watching our Becks! Won’t THIS turn the corner for MLS profitability!!
