That’s pretty significant, Alan. How many people who bought group tickets or 5-game plans for the Galaxy-Fire game in October are going to be pissed-off when he doesn’t even show up? Thousands of them!

MLS has a real problem in the fact that it completely ignores the international calendar.

Someone on another list pointed out that if Becks stays on the England squad, its going to bump into a number of MLS games. Ouch.

Sept. 8 – England v Israel

I read that Lennon injured his knee in the B game last night. I didn’t include it in the post because I don’t know enough about the squad and how it affects Beckham, but it does increase his chances of seeing time on the field.

Amd I agree it would be stupid to eat crow and recall him and then not PLAY him. This isn’t about Beckham anyway, it’s about McClaren keeping his job.

I think he’ll play. McClaren would look even sillier if he recalled him and then didn’t play him, and they draw or lose. Unfortunately this might mean Lennon doesn’t play, though he is struggling with injury and form right now anyway.

Owen and Beckham back on the England team together within a year of the World Cup. You could have gotten long odds on that last July.
