Don’t Forget! Posh is on TV Tonight!

By: Laurie | July 16th, 2007

posh2_3.jpgBob provided all the gory details today so I wouldn’t have to deal with this. (Is he a great editor or what?) But I would be remiss in my duties to you, my dear readers, if I didn’t remind you that “Victoria Beckham: Coming to America” is on TV tonight on NBC. (Check local listings, etc.)

The New York Post was not impressed, giving it 0 stars.

“Anyway, the proposed series, now downsized to a one-hour “special,” is an orgy of self-indulgence so out of whack with, er, reality that you’ll sit there slack-jawed at the gall of these people who think we are that stupid.”

Sounds delightfully, trashily self-indulgent. My heart is breaking because I have other plans tonight.

Enjoy it for me, okay?

  • It was the most scripted "reality" show I have ever had the misfortune to turn off after five minutes...
  • Damn, I missed that part. All I caught was her ripping into the homely assistant for asking about David, getting the phony ticket and cheating on her driving test.
  • Did you hear her admit to having a boob job? ("I really thought my silicone was gonna fly out my armpit!" after throwing the baseball)
That alone was worth watching the "scripted" reality...

With all the bad reality TV out there these days I was expecting her show to take the cake. The problem is, like others have commented above, she was actually kind of funny. I always thought she was a shy little hussy that was the British version of Paris Hilton. I don't know if it all was an act, but she did change my perception of her. She makes for one hell of a "soccer mom".
  • DAMNIT I thought this was on tonight...oh the disappointment is to much to take.

The show was crap, but, um ... I actually like her. I always have, she comes across well in interiews I think. Smarter and funnier than one expects, plus, I don't get the sense she takes herself all that seriously.

She's like poor David, a victim of self-inflicted press damage (that is really more about perception than anything truly offensive they've done).

But what do I know--the more people hate Barry Bonds, the more I love him. That's just how I roll.
  • I do have to say: If your only ambition in life is to be a bimbo, well, darn it, be the best bimbo you can be! Posh is the mother of all bimbos. The bimbo's bimbo. A true credit to her kind.
  • I'll be the first to say I hate any form of TV resembling reality TV, but my gf had it on and I really didn't think it was all that bad. She came of as a bimbo but with an obvious sense of humor that we don't get in the press. It actually changed my view of her a little. Although she does look like she's had about 12 plastic surgeries too many and could be considered 'synthetic' at this point.
  • To each his own, guys. I watched four minutes and felt Nick's urge to stab my eyes out. My son made it through fifteen seconds before he had to leave the room.
  • i was surprised - i thought she was pretty funny. i wasn't planning on watching the show, but it turned out to be quite fun.
  • I have removed all sharp objects from my house -- I've a feeling the urge to stab my eyes out will occur about two minutes into the show.

I hate to admit this, but I thought Victoria beckham was kind of a funny wise ass based on her show tonight...
