Let’s Also Check Out that Donovan Goal

Earlier I gave you the David Beckham goal. Now I give you the Landon Donovan goal off the Beckham assist. All I can say is: How in the world did he place it so perfectly? And kudos to Donovan for seeing the hole that allowed him to finish it off.

Is anybody else dreaming? If not of the 2007 playoffs, at least of the 2008 season?

Happy sigh.

P.S. I’ll bet the lovely Bianca was appropriately ecstatic.

  for once it is somebody else’s job to figure out how the ball got by a defender. I shall merely take this opportunity to bask in the glory of the goal. OUR goal. For once.

  OK, if the defender had taken his eye off the ball for a minute to get a glimpse of the oncoming opposition…maybe…but didn’t he seem to actually WATCH to the ball roll under his feet? Poor guy, he’s probably not enjoying watching that over and over again quite as much as we are.

  Still, brilliant capture and finish by Donovan. Nice partnership.

  Me too Tom! We’re working hard here not to see all the ways the opposition sucked (and list all the places that little ball could have been stopped, on route to Beckham to Donovan to net)…sublimating is a rough job and a little help would be appreciated! Do it for Laurie, she brought us the free kick after all.
