Becks and Cobi in Hawaii

I stole this from my favorite guilty pleasure Kickette, who has it listed in her “WTF Files” for Beckham’s gratuitous use of socks with sandals. Apparently this is a fashion don’t?

Who knew?

(Hey, I’m from Seattle. Up here we would think that the only thing keeping this from being a completely stylin’ fashion statement would be the absence of polar fleece.)

But I liked the photo, and it made me think:

I am so glad CoJones is still around to appear in the background of photos. He may not be front and center any more, but at least he’s generally lurking nearby. This is a good thing.

I'm dying to see how the formation this year will shake out. Why would Ruud have started 4-3-3 if he didn't plan to use it in season? And if he does, and that puts Becks on the right, Ruiz is obviously in the middle. So does Landon go on the left?!? Or is he back in the midfield?

If there is anything good to be taken from the PPC so far is that Beckham is playing on the right. It'll be interesting to see how the Galaxy develop counters off set-pieces/corners with Beckham on the right able to release Landon from virtually anywhere (he's still omg!fast) or hit Fish, our lovable eternal poacher.

Holy crap, Becks looks like a douche bag. That get-up as a whole (those shorts? the shirt?) has me feeling some kinda fashion savvy...as opposed to the more familiar belief that I dress myself like a retarded, color-blind ten-year-old.

You people don't know him well...lol (it's not that I know), but he wears flip flops or sandals with socks all the time, there are many pics from 1999 and 2001 and 2003 with him like that...he is just a footballer. Many footballers do that, I saw Raul and Carlos like that as well. Nothing really new.

My first thought was "Hey CoJones!" too.

At least its not socks with those sandals that have the strap around the big toe. Only K-Fed pulls that one off (poorly).

Nope, sandals and socks are a no-no (doubled when you add shorts). If its warm enough to wear sandals the socks aren't needed; are likely to pick up dirt and incredibly dopey looking. If its not warm enough to wear sandals just go for the closed toe, still likely to get dirty and still dopey looking.
