Becks Will (Probably) Play Against Dallas. In 2008.

In a decision that could set an interesting precedent, Dallas and LA have announced that the Hoops and the Galaxy will play a friendly in 2008, proceeds to benefit charity. Tickets will first be made available for free to people who purchased their tickets to last week’s SuperLiga game either through FC Dallas or through Ticketmaster.

Interesting wording here:

The preseason game, which will include the presence of Galaxy midfielder David Beckham, will be played at Pizza Hut Park in early 2008 on a date to be determined.

In other words, he doesn’t have to play. He just has to show.

Is anybody else getting these visions of the Galaxy gallivanting through the country and Canada next year, playing friendly after friendly for those teams who were forced to go Becks-less this year? Is this the real reason Becks is traveling to Toronto, even though he’s not expected to play?

He's going to Toronto because the team isn't coming back to LA until after their road trip. I didn't save the link, but the team said this in a statement. Any player who could potentially play against Toronto, DC, or New England is on the plane.
