Buddle Player of the Week, Nominee for Goal of the Week

By: jen | May 20th, 2008

buddle.jpgVote for Goal of the Week here. (Does anyone remember the episode of Bugs Bunny where Elmer Fudd was chasing him through the nosebleed seats at the opera? And they are climbing over people’s laps saying, “‘Scuse me, pardon me, ’scuse me, ’scuse me, pardon me.” That’s what this goal reminds me of. Buddle moving past defenders — ’scuse me, pardon me, ’scuse me.)

As for player of the week, look at this:

2008 Player of the Week Winners
Week 1: Terry Cooke (Colorado Rapids)
Week 2: David Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy)
Week 3: Guillermo Barros Schelotto (Columbus Crew)
Week 4: Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)
Week 5: Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)
Week 6: David Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy)
Week 7: Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew)
Week 8: Edson Buddle (Los Angles Galaxy)

This definitely makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, with a little bit of “$#&@ yeah!” thrown in.

And if you haven’t already done so, check out the quotes from Sunday’s game.

it'll be interesting to see how Rudd works out with the Galaxy/league and down the road you may see him possibly moving towards our national team at some point. I do like his style of play :p

I would keep watching the Galaxy right now just to follow Gullit's impact on both team and league.

I saw that too Laurie. Loved it! I'm definitely a big fan of Ruud.

This paragraph sums up my thoughts nicely:

Ruud came to the team saying priority one needed to be fitness. To play the style the Galaxy currently are takes a tremendous work ethic off the ball. Making runs into space to create passing lanes and developing triangles for one touch passing is a tiring process. Yet even in the stifling heat of Pizza Hut Park the Galaxy was able to impose their style onto the game. Credit Ruud’s commitment to conditioning for Sunday’s success.

I'd be more pleased with all those Players of the Week if I felt we could have won the Team of the Week awards to go with them. Fingers crossed that we're getting there.
