Checklist for Landon’s Wedding

And here we have the checklist for Landon Donovan’s recent wedding:

1. Monique Lhuillier dress and custom-made tuxedo? Check.
2. Resort location? Check.
3. In-N-Out Burgers and a karaoke machine for the reception? Check.
4. Obligatory Art Photo of the Happy Couple, taken at a diagonal angle for People Magazine? Check.
5. Fancy new home, duly photographed for MTV? (Feel free to watch the video, below.) Check.
6. Barf bags?

Oops, honey, I knew we’d forgotten something!

Oh, sorry. I have nothing against Landon and his blushing bride. I’m sure they’re lovely people. It’s just that I’m still working on forgiving him for refusing to go to Europe to improve his play for the good of American soccer.

Sorry, but it’s a sad fact at this point that the players who play in Europe do tend to come back stronger than those who stay in the US. Although I will say I’m totally open to having my mind changed on this.

But then again, if he’d gone to Europe… Well, I wouldn’t have gotten to write this post, would I?

Sorry, Landon. Play well and I’ll get over it.
