Chivas v. Galaxy, are you watching?
By: jen | July 10th, 2008It’s late for me, being in Virginia and all, and I manage to stay awake and alert and end up watching 13 minutes of WNBA. Blech!
But here we are now with the pre-game show. If you are watching, please chime in.
Looks like Franklin and Xavier are out. Yikes! I hope our offense can produce.

Come on people where is the Roberts played a great game stuff. He almost had a goal too, and Beckham was playing like a CAM position and I think it worked well, we would just have to move Klein to RM and Franklin to RB when he is healthy again. Oh yeah one last time Nice F’in game Troy Roberts!

Galaxy reserves won 4-3, 2 by Ruiz 2 by Gordo and Izzy had the last one!

Justin, the Galaxy website shows the reserve game begin played at 1:00. It is now 1:02. I’m guessing they played early?

Who’s our reserve keeper these days anyhow? Is Wicks still out with an injury?

vito higgins was on the bench, so he probably played in the reserve match. wicks is still out i saw him in the luxury box behind our seats.

The good news, Roberts and Vanney had great games. Roberts was to say the least crude but certainly effective. Vanney so so much better than Abel it waqs silly. Vanney was also sooo much better in the cnter of D than the outside it makes you wonder why he plays out there. Klein was an animal, worked his ass off, not sure how an old guy like him can run that fast,,,, amazing and soooo close to a goal.
Becks showed what it means to play in a derby game, pulling Mendoza’s (The Diver) hair, talking smack, studs up not going for the ball tackles it was awesome. I do think he tried to do too much though, but what kind of complaint is that!
Landycakes was very, very dissapointing he can’ be 100% he looked terrible. Whatever you say aboout Ruiz he showed his class, i’d say sit Landon till he’s fit and let Carlos get start. He sure looked like he could make something happen.
Ante’s injury looked very nasty, hopefully not as bad as it looked.
Preki must have said something t the fourth official because he called the center ref. over after the goal celebration and he tossed him. Actually Preki (who i really like and respect) should be made to watch a tape of himself during that game, he would be embarressed. Definately not his proudest moment.
Randolph sure tried hard but he got schooled.
I still think Cronin has improved a lot but boy he seems to have a hard time knowing where his posts are. Guzan rocks, the GK’s where the differance in this game, ours is a 5 thiers a 9.5.
Oh and BTW there were not many Chivas fans there but those guys are hard core, they make the Riot Squad look like they belong at the WNBA.

Limey, for you to say that they make the riot squad look bad and to say that Roberts was basic/rough… WOW!

I didn’t say the riot squad looked bad, the Chivas dudes were just bad ass, they were havin one helluva good time. Probably if I had been on the other side of the stadium I would have heard/seen more from the Riot Squad, and less from the big drum. (Note to self, get the cheap seats next time). BTW the Galaxians were out in strength and they were good but like Confucious said; “Dude with biggest drum sounds the loudest”.
As for Roberts, believe me I was thrilled with his performance he has not been first choice but came in to a pressure filled situation, gave 100% and did more than enough to win it back, he was awesome. Great job Troy and Greg!!!

Only reason Galaxians looked bigger was because we (ACB) have to sit by them during chivas games to keep us groups farther apart.

fyi the best chant of the game was when acb shouted LA and riot squad answered GALAXY!
do that more. could have got teh whole stadium into it if you did it more than once
Posted from

Yeah right getting the whole stadium to do things is really hard. We do that at every game now and we still can not get everyone to do it. It is getting better though.

i just meant do it more than once. that would make it easier to catch on to. it still sounded awesome.

I was at the 4th of July game and they did it once during each half for about a minute each time, but not everyone caught on. I love the idea though.

I went to a Chivas game a couple of weeks ago (Vs, Red Bulls) and was shocked by the hard core Chivas fans. I don’t speak Spanish, but went with a friend who does and she translated a couple of their cheers for me. I can’t believe they say stuff like that with little kids in the stands. We were sitting in the GA seats behind the goal. At the half time whistle someone threw a cup of beer onto the field and just missed hitting the keeper. Really turned me off.

Yeah we try to do it once each half but like in the last game something happened on the pitch that messed us up and then we didn’t do it again. Its hard to do these cross stadium chants, getting enough people so that the Riot Squad can hear us. You would think more people would help with the chant but when you look around its like people are scared or worried about what others think of them… I dont know what it is but when you people go to a game they should have fun, stand up, chant, sing, yell at the other teams players, but do not sit on your hands being all quiet. Oh yeah people that want to sit down and watch the game do not sit behind the supporters section in GA and then yell at people to sit down, lol it is not going to work.

I think the best chant was when they started in with “Sasha is a girls name … Sasha is a girls name”
Posted from

Rob, amongst a number of problems with that chant is the fact that Sasha is a boy’s name — its short for Alexander.

New Signing? anyone know if it’s true about the signing of Peruvian midfield and West Ham player Nolberto Solano to the Galaxy. Interesting if it’s true.

Diane, It is still funny when we are all chanting it to him. He likes it!

Have seen the Solan rumor, but it seems unlikely. At least one article says it is just a rumor:

I’m a fan of Noberto but i’m not sure him coming to the Galaxy make sense, he’s pretty much a cretive midfield player.

We could use one of those.

That sounds like fun then Justin. One more drawback of watching football on TV! Can’t see what’s happening on the whole pitch OR in the stands
. Planning to go to the game on Saturday though, so at least I’ll get to see the team as it should be once this season.Posted from

I heard the Nolberto Solano rumors and checked it out. It’s even in a Peruvian newspaper and says he is in the US right now, but it also says he has received offers from Qatar and another country.
