Chris Albright to New England

By: Laurie | January 18th, 2008

This just in: Chris Albright has been sent to New England for allocation money.

Not unexpected, but sad. (Like Cannon.)

Also, our first draft pick was defensive midfielder Sean Franklin. More later. I have to go liveblog.

I think this is a great pick. Franklin is supposed to be one of the best defenders in the draft. I just hope they use the allocation money efficiently this time.

I’m a fan of this deal. Albright will complement the Revs established squad nicely.

I’m guessing that allocation money has already been spent
on Ruiz. I read somewhere teams have until early March
to be in compliance with the salary cap. Boy we’re going
to be young in the back. I know a some people who post here
don’t like Xavier but we’re going to need his experience
back there assuming he’s not gotten rid of as well. The
“O” better be able to put up 3 or 4 goals a game because
we’re going to give up 2 or 3.

We’ll miss Albright’s experience (although he missed most of the season last year), but hopefully with “X” back there he’ll add the leadership needed for the young guys. It’ll be interesting to see how Sean Franklin works out.
