Colorado 3-0 Galaxy
By: Laurie | August 26th, 2007I’ve decided I’m going to be all about the positive here. Because everybody else is going to focus on the negative and I’ve never been one to follow the crowd. That’s the easy way out. The true challenge here is to put on a happy face and see the good. Right?
Okay, the good. Thinking, thinking… Oh, I’ve got one!
1. I didn’t see the game. It’s easier to be positive that way. (I don’t get the channels it was being shown on. But I did kind of follow it on MatchTracker. At least enough to be pissed when they didn’t update for fifteen minutes.)
2. Two players got their first MLS starts! That would be Josh Tudela and Mike Caso. (When you’re maternal like I am, this is a positive thing.) And no, I don’t even want to know how they played. I don’t care. (Unless they were awesome. Then you can tell me.) What’s important is that they played. Right? (This is Tudela’s first league game start, right? I know he played in at least one US Open Cup game, but I’m not remembering league play.)
3. No scores in the second half! I’m interested in seeing the game, though. Did the Galaxy play better, or did Colorado take pity on them? I got to see Colorado on the bad end of a 5-0 thrashing by my Seattle Sounders a few weeks back, so they know how bad it hurts. Were they trying to score, or were they just unable to summon up the necessary cruelty to make it worse?
4. And…um…well…let’s see… I’m running out of ideas here. Oh, I have one! Kyle Martino didn’t get another yellow or red card!
5. And we only had two fewer shots than the Rapids! Okay, so yeah, they only had seven and managed to score three goals from them, but still. We had five shots!
And…um…okay, I think that about covers it.
Oh, wait, I’ve got one more.
6. The fact that pretty much no first-stringers played today means that eveybody’s taking the time to get healthy for SuperLiga. Right? Am I right? That’s the only possible explanation I can see.
Tell me I’m right. Please.

Can I add another one? Another positive…Real Salt Lake lost so we are not at the bottom. That’s the only thing that I can think of.

One more positive: Mike Randolph is our future left back. If someone can feed him the ball better when he overlaps, we could really have a threat on our hands!

When are the firings coming (Yallop and Lalas). I hope these rumors of Klinsmann are true.
So painful. I didn’t watch it either, but when I saw the score I was glad I missed it.

One more thing, Pachuca is the top team in Mexico right now http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primera_Divisi%C3%B3n_de_M%C3%A9xico_Apertura_2007
We’ll need a miracle in the SuperLiga final.

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on the rumor of Jürgen Klinsmann? Should I think “positive” or “negative”?

Randolph is great! Between him, Beckham, and Landon, you almost have enough to counter the negative contribution of Martino.

You dis Kyle, you dis my heart, Clint. I’m afraid we cannot be friends.
It’s not logical. It just is. (You write enough about someone’s groin and…well, it just creates a bond.)

Pennoyer, I’m thinking this is a good thing, and I’m basing this on all of two facts:
1) I liked him in World Cup as Germany’s coach, and
2) Everybody in the universe (with the possible exception of Bob Bradley) wanted to see him as coach for the US Nats. And now you know all I know.

Klinsmann coming is a good thing. I’m hoping it will work as sort of a reboot.
You didn’t need to see the game, Laurie. It was a yawner. The second half looked like it was played in slow motion. Not much umph for either side.
