Curl It With Cobi!
By: Laurie | April 26th, 2007
This is a fun Cobi Jones link from Kabillion.com, a kids website with TV channel connections. The site has a collection of Cobi Jones videos geared towards kids, with topics like warming up and taking penalty kicks. (Maybe France’s David Trezeguet should have watched this one before World Cup! And by this of course mean: Just kidding! Love you, David! Coulda happened to anybody!)
There’s also an interesting intro-to-Cobi video. If I knew he was a walk-on at UCLA I’d forgotten it. And his story about getting cut from the Olympic team twice before making it is a great lesson for kids, who tend to imagine that their heroes’ stories contain just one success after another.
(I couldn’t get the videos to run through AOL, but they ran fine through Internet Explorer.)
There’s also a Cobi Jones soccer video competition, where kids up to 17 can submit videos to be voted on, with the chance of winning an autographed Cobi Jones soccer ball. So pull out your video cameras and get your little soccer fiends on film!
Thanks to reader Jimmy for the link!
