They mishandled last season so badly, and lied so transparently in order to make a dollar, that they've already alienated a lot of the people they SAID this great marketing launch was meant to turn into fans. Lalas himself has made it clear that the goal to make the Galaxy into a "$100 million revenue" team takes precedence over his lip service about building soccer in America. Big egos rarely shrink with age and that was a foolish ego trip to embark on. If I hadn't so recently seen Beckham in good form elsewhere, and hadn't found this site to follow the Galaxy on, last season's "spotlight" might have piqued my interest in soccer but I certainly would have been too disgusted by the quest for profit with no apparent regard for product to believe that the Galaxy/Beckham can actually produce.
