Dallas vs. LA Galaxy — leave comments here
By: Laurie | July 27th, 2008
Stole the photo from the Galaxy homepage. Is this not the most adorable photo ever?
(Wait. I hate Ruiz. Don’t I?)
But that photo was the last game. Today’s topic is today’s game. FC Dallas vs. LA Galaxy. Last time we met, we came away with a 5-1 win and got Steve Morrow fired.
Heehee. Good times.
Sean Franklin is back in training. The Official Galaxy blog said they’d make a fit-or-not decision yesterday, but I haven’t found an official word one way or the other.
The official injury report:
INJURY REPORT: FC DALLAS – OUT: DF David Wagenfuhr (concussion); QUESTIONABLE: GK Ray Burse (R ankle); PROBABLE: MF Bobby Rhine (L ankle) …
LOS ANGELES GALAXY – OUT: GK Vito Higgins (R foot); DOUBTFUL: GK Charles Alamo (R knee); DF Sean Franklin (R knee); MF Bryan Jordan (R hamstring); MF Brandon McDonald (L foot); PROBABLE: GK Josh Wicks (L knee)
So it’s good news that we have so many who have been moved from “Out” to “Doubtful.” Right? This injury list is reminding me of last year, except that Beckham isn’t on it.
I’m hopeful, though. If the new guy plays to shore up the defense, we could do 5-1 again. Prove it wasn’t a fluke.
Right?
(If you’re watching the game, leave comments.)

Family commitments made me miss this game but from the highlights I caught and the running commentary I saw, I guess I didn’t miss anything. Four nil? Unbelievable.
When oh when is AEG going to fire Lalas? I preach this week in & week out & my wife is tired of hearing me say this, but Lalas has no business being a GM – none whatsoever. Move him to media relations – that is all he is good at – running his mouth and taking pictures with fans.
Steve & Limey – you are correct about Tudela – he needs to be starting. Pires is a waste of space back there – he is slow and his tackling is pathetic – I have seen 12 year olds tackle better than this.
The backline – pathetic – have to give Dominguez another chance to get used to game conditions with this team before making comments about his play. Vanny needs to retire – he cannot keep up in this league.
Overall, I would not be surprised if this team does NOT make the playoffs – most of their 2nd half of the season is played on the road and their record is pathetic. Only 5 home games left. I would not be surprised if this team gets gutted after the season – Landon realizing that it is time to move to Europe, Buddle to Europe, Ruiz gone?, Beckham retiring and becoming a principal owner for the Miami expansion club. Gullit may leave or stay and become GM of this club. Some if not all may happen – only time with tell. BUT PLEASE AEG – FIRE LALAS!!!Posted from

One last diatribe to all you Cronin haters – he would be a much better keeper if he had a defense that could actually stop some strikers. No keeper in this league could have stopped FC Dallas from scoring yesterday with the defense that the Galaxy have. No one. Cronin has great lateral movement and reaction – just needs to improve on his positioning skills – but that only comes when you have confidence in your defensive mates – which hell I don’t think himself or anyone has. Cronin is all we got. Wicks isn’t any better as a keeper – he would be stranded out there just like Cronin with the defense of the Galaxy.

Most pathetic play by a soccer team in a long time. Galaxy did NOTHING well in the game, and looked as if they did not care or worst yet, were sub-par talent to FC Dallas. Why does LA have a tendency, in a lot of years, of NEVER taking shorts. Too much passing, which was bad at that, and NO SHOTS on goal. The funny white thing with holes in it, that is what you shoot at guys! No defense, no mid-field play, no scoring at the forward position; no quality at ANY position!

TJ – I have to disagree with you about Cronin. Great lateral movement? He doesn’t move his feet. Watch him carefully on the first goal. With one half step and his long reach he should of had it. GK’s must have foot speed. For a big man Friedel has great foot speed and he’s almost 50 years old.

Reserves Tied 2-2, Izzy with another good game. I think we should bring him up to the first team and then move Landon to the CAM, with Izzy playing LM and Becks on the RM.

What was the lineup? Did he play Donovan as a midfielder again? I have said before that never works out well.

According to another LAG player who was on the field in Dallas, what X said about Ruud is true and its actually worse…..

I’m just hoping that what Xavier said about Ruud isn’t true. I mean, [i[someone[/i] has done a decent job of bringing up the young ‘uns. And I think that his tactics are sound. But most of the team has to have respect for the coach or the team becomes a bunch of scattered, nonproductive talent.

Theres speculation but I have not seen anything for sure and rumors/hooligan are not always reliable.
Ruiz back to dallas would just shock me, but a new coach could change things there maybe.Posted from

Hey guys,
MLS Rumors (which admittedly throw anything on the page) are talking some Galaxy rumors. Landon to Fulham ((whatever)…but….
PETE TO CHINA !!(a bit of overkill, but far from LA is good for me) Still think he should stay in the organization somehow instead of this.Posted from

Vito has been waived and mike munoz just signed. Good call I say. He was looking good in those reserve games

so i solano to the galaxy 100%? i read a snipet from his interview on sky sports stating that he was still trying to play top flight football in europe dated aug. 1st. solano would be a great pickup.. but obviously would not address the lowly defense whatsoever.

So Laurie, what’s up? have you given up on us? No postings all week.

I agree, where’s the postings :p

It’ll be interesting to see what rumor’s pan out. Pete to China (he needs to be retired from the galaxy, but to china), Solano maybe to the Galaxy (maybe help hold midfield), Landon to Fulham (hate to see him go but it would be good for him and our nat. team), Gibbs possibly to the Galaxy (if he can stay healthy it would be good). who knows!
what about today’s game against San Jose, for sure a different team than we last played them. this could be a very tough game for us. they now have some play makers that could get in behind our porous defense and hopefully our new defender will have a better game along with the rest of the team from the dallas fiasco :p

In fact, I’m working on something that will make this blog much, much better. Stay tuned this week for an unveiling. In the meantime, be patient with us.
