David Beckham Breaks a Rib. Or not.
By: Laurie | December 8th, 2007
So after the New Zealand game, one of the British tabloids reported that our David Beckham, stud-man that he is, played the entire game with a broken rib. (Remember that Becks was contractually required to play a portion of the game — I think it was at least a half. No Becks, no game.)
This news was picked up and reported across the world. And by legit news sources too, not just illegitimate bloggers like myself. (Who didn’t report it. Just so you know. And of course that’s entirely due to things like journalistic integrity and not due to the fact that I was just moving slow this week.)
But anyhoo. Becks! Broken rib! What a guy! Taking it for the team.
Minor problem. It’s not true. It appears he was shaken, not stirred. Bruised, not broken. Damaged, not… Well, you get the picture.
But he’s still a great guy. (And does anybody doubt that he would have played if it had been broken? That’s probably what the tabloid meant, right?)
(Photo cheerfully pilfered from David Beckham fans online.)
