David Beckham’s New Hair

By: Laurie | April 2nd, 2007

beckham-hair.jpgBeckham apparently got tired of his old do and decided to update. What do you think?

Me? That gravity-defying DA thing he had for so long always kind of blew my mind. It always stayed firmly vertical, even through the most grueling, sweaty games. (Not that I ever notice, y’know, how sweaty players get or anything.) The strength and quality of the hair-styling products required for that effect still leave me in awe.

This one? Not so much.

LA Galaxy “Fan” only now thanks to Becks to be honest.

All I knew before about the sport in the US was brief at most

A bit World Cup 1994 stuff, the US national teams, Mia Hamm (6/7 times or so worlds best female football player I think) and I knew there once existed a team called Dallas Burns with a swiss player Alain Sutter playing for them a while. + the “shoot outs” with time running down instead of the classic penalties (which I love btw)

1994's World Cup Opener was USA-Switzerland and appart from Cobi Jones (the Rastaman) Alexi Lalas (the guitar orange "afro" lad) I remembered 2/3 other players - Meloa a goalie I think and a defender Tom Dooley and a guy named Wynalda I think he was a striker.

So I was pleasantly surprised to hear Becks would play along Cobi and Lalas was at that club aswell :)

Yet I’m no Eurosnob and not everything is right over here and wrong over there.

I’m looking forward for a new kind of League, new Teams, new Competitions and basically just a new feel for soccer/football.

oh and last but not least my Dad comes from the US (now San Francisco, formerly Atlanta)

    cheers Ben
  • Thanks for the updates, guys! I'll be home late today and probably get some computer time tomorrow to catch up on everything.

Ben, I've been curious since you started commenting. How did a Swiss guy become a Galaxy fan? Is it a Beckham thing, or does it predate that?
  • Ben
yeah you did. now not anymore.

I tought it was quite a coincidence that so many posters came from switzerland!

Btw Becks won't get Number 7
The roster on the Galaxy site has been updated (6, 17, 22, 23 are free)

Switzerland? I live in LA, actually. Am I showing up as living in Switzerland?
  • Ben
    hair lucks awful

sorry it's off topic: Kenny, where in Switzerland do you live and would you be interested to go over to LA and catch a game or 2 of the Galaxy with Becks ?

    I'm from Capital City Bern(e)

Doh, I did it again. I screwed up the link.

That just doesn't look right, but what do I know.

Laurie, didn't know where else to post this, but Dan Currie is talking crap. He makes it out to look as if he was too got for the MLS, let alone the Galaxy. Funny thing, from posts on bigsoccer and soccerpubs, everyone said that he sucked.

  • Just incase you have not gotten enough of Posh here is a great article from TMZ:

Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown gave birth on Tuesday morning to a baby girl who may or may not be Eddie Murphy's daughter. TMZ has learned that last week, she was running around the shop with her mom, trying to get last minute items for the nursery. Among the trinkets Melanie picked up were an $850 custom-made bassinet and a $428 pink leather diaper bag. In total, Scary dropped a frightening $2000!

Fifteen minutes later, Melanie's former bandmate, Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham, came in for one of her typical retail escapades, forking over $1000 for a gift basket for an unknown friend. After the last Spice Girl left the building, a fellow shopper was overheard saying, "Which one is next?"

While Spice Girls reunion rumors are always swirling, it looks like for now, baby boutique crossings are as close as it's going to get. Zigazig ah! (tmz.com)
  • This hair looks kinda like his old days, back when he was with ManU. Maybe this is the real key to his success. All he has to do is get back to the Mohawk and everything is ready to go.

  • Inexplicably, I love it. It sort of mirrors Guti's old mental-patient style, but I still like it. Still don't like him much, mind you, but his hair is moving up in my sights.
  • Sam
Dang, that is u-gly. Looks like he wore a swimming cap over it for 24 hours.
  • It makes his head look like a watermelon standing on its end.
