Day O’ Soccer!
By: jen | June 6th, 2009
Our Galaxy (1-1-9) takes on Toronto FC (4-4-4) on the road in a matinee match this afternoon. You can catch it on FoxSportsWest, or on Direct Kick if you’ve got it, at 1:00pm Pacific.
Next, head on over to ESPN or Galavision to watch the US Men’s National Team take on Honduras in Chicago at 5:00pm Pacific.
Both games are being broadcast in high-def. Ahhh, I can’t wait.
Hopefully the Galaxy will get on okay without Landon, and Buddle will be able to step up for a full 90, or at least 75.
Even more importantly, the USMNT needs to play exceedingly well and beat the crap out of Honduras after Wednesday’s mess in Costa Rica. It was bad. Like I could cry — bad. If Bradley is smart, he’ll play Torres for the full 90 — and if Torres and Donovan can connect well, they will create effective offense.
Post your match comments here in the comments section. I’ll be here for most of the Galaxy match but will be DVRing the US, Honduras, match.

TFC looking much more dangerous now…

Great save by Ricketts! He’s keeping us in this game!

Sanneh getting burned in central defense.

Great form from Ricketts. But don’t really want to depend on the keeper to save out bacon for the entirety of the game…

Eddie Lewis is having the kind of game that we wanted him to have every game when he was picked up last year.

Also, the combo of Dunivant and Lewis on the left is finally looking like it was envisioned when Arena got these guys.

Midfield is playing pretty flat and pretty deep in front of goal. Not getting much offense from that, nor any place to dump a clearance. Gonna make for a tense final 10 minutes.

Galaxy kind of sitting back and not doing a good job winning 50-50 balls.

Probably the best 1 vs 3 effort I’ve seen from Gordon. Also with the expected result of a save since he’s just not that good with the ball as his feet.

Why does the camera look so out of focus? It looks so fuzzy. Plus the camera doesn’t cover the bottom two corners.
Ricketts is a stud out there!!

missed the last few minutes of the 1st half but it looks like we held our lead into the half.

How can the refs miss that offsides??? It was only a matter of time with settling back on defense since Gordo’s goal.

Edson Buddle!

Ref = dumb ass

Galaxy needs to lock down the midfield. With a slew of d-mids in the game, this shouldn’t be that hard, but apparently we’d rather punt it long than hold possession. Delagarza is a prime suspect here and Ricketts long bombs to nowhere are also problematic.

Hold the ball!

Stop the stupid giveaways! TFC does have an offense when they want to have one.

Hold it together boys!

“Ref = dumb ass”
Bob, thanks for your contribution, you are free to go, bye.Speaking of bad calls though, if I had missed that offside I think I wouldn’t be reffing anymore.

Congrats on the win. (Seattle fan says: Sigh.)
Also, thought Galaxy fans would appreciate this. Greg Vanney was commentating ast night in the Chivas-Seattle game. In about the 70th, when Claudio Suarez was subbed in, Vanney says something like, “Claudio Suarez. Interesting choice. You’re putting in somebody with huge amounts of experience, but you’re sacrificing all of the speed at that centerback position.”
And I’m thinking, “Yeah, who would know better?”
