Donovan training with Bayern Munich, Named U.S. POY
By: jen | November 12th, 2008
A busy week for Landon.
On Tuesday he was named U.S. Player of the Year for the fifth time. Tuesday was also his first day of a 10 day training stint with Jurgen Klinsmann’s Bayern Munich. Is this an opportunity for Klinsmann to get another look at him and how he might fit into his team? Will other team managers be able to get a look at him as well?
I’m pulling for him to get an opportunity in Europe. I’ve been hoping for it for a long time. I wonder if he is under a contract obligation to appear in the Oceania match in December. After all, it’s Beckham everybody wants to see. I imagine everything is negotiable for a price.

A little more info: http://www.thelocal.de/sport/20081114-15527.html. Looks like we may know more next week. It would be hard on the Galaxy but I hope he goes.

Well, great news for Sean Franklin — he won Rookie of the year and got his first call up for the nats!
Also if you look at the official blog, you’ll see that Jovan Kirovski has been training with the Galaxy. I don’t remember seeing him play too much, but do you guys think he’s all washed up? We’ll definitely need a replacement for Gordon for next season.

I hope it works out for Donovan, hate to see him go ’cause we all know we need him on our Galaxy but it would be great for him. Hopefully he’ll get some good play time (not on the bench or the reserves team) and be ready for World Cup action.

Yes, great news about Franklin! I’m going to write a quick post in a minute.
I hope he goes too. I really do. Boy I will miss him though!
