The World Series of Football? Chelsea, fine, they might make a world series of football. But LA is near the bottom of the MLS. Bluewings are an 11-year-old team from South Korea, which I have to believe is weakened by players being away at the Asian Cup, but at least they're a winning team from South Korea. Club America is the third-best team in Mexico. Frankly, if they wanted to put together a showpiece tournament for Beckham's arrival, I'm kind of surprised they couldn't do better than this. I like the idea of one team from Asia, one from, um ... south of the US ..., one from Europe and Galaxy, but I'd like to see a South American side in place of Club America and someone a little more accomplished in place of Bluewings. Plus, if they wanted to turn on American fans, they had a golden opportunity to bring in an Aussie team (call them the representatives of Oceania) and let them get slaughtered.
