Final: Rapids 1-0 Galaxy. Second Half Sucked Slightly Less
By: Laurie | May 26th, 2007The best thing I can say about this game is that it did get more watchable in the second half. The Galaxy did have some chances, and they held onto the ball better and created some opportunities. Alas, none of those opportunities came to anything. Herculez Gomez managed to put away a header in the 71st, and that was that. Zero points.
Nate Sturgis looked better in the second half, so maybe it’s just a matter of getting used to the position. (I still miss Chris Albright.) Cobi Jones came in for Santino Quaranta at the half and was a huge improvement. Cobi has an amazing way of getting himself out of situations you think are impossible. But again, this resulted in nothing.
Robbie Findley came on for Pete Vagenas in the 75th. He looked threatening a couple of times but didn’t manage to actually accomplish much of anything.
Despite the lone goal, I thought the back line looked pretty good second half. I’m starting to agree that Ante Jazic isn’t the master of crosses, but when it comes to shutting down the opposing offense he does well. Tyrone Marshall and Ty Harden were both solid also. Marshall in particular looked a lot better second half.
But in the end what we have is another three points lost. Welcome to MLS, David Beckham.
