Findley and the French Guy. What Did I Tell Ya?
By: Laurie | February 16th, 2007It’s funny. When you write about players, you develop a kind of mental investment in their success. So I was thrilled to see preseason scores by two of the guys I’ve written about, new draft pick Robbie Findley and French open tryout pick Laurent Merlin. (Didn’t I tell you Alexi? The French guy!)
The Galaxy (which here seems to mean younger, newer guys the coaches want to get a closer look at) played Loyola Marymount University yesterday and won 2-0.
Let’s hear it for Robbie and Laurent. Robbie “dribbled through a pair of LMU defenders and fired the shot past the Lions goalkeeper,” while “John Thorrington got free on the right and found Merlin in the center of the box, leaving the Frenchmen with a simple tap in.” Well, still, Laurent. A tap in is a tap in, and a goal is a goal, right?
And forgive me for not letting you know about this game in advance. Came as a total surprise to me. Is it just me, or is anybody else having difficulty navigating through the Galaxy website? Anything I’m finding seems to be mostly luck on my part.
Although I know all the details about their upcoming Easter Egg hunt. And I will probably tell you all about it when I run out of interesting things to write about.
And speaking of stumbling on info, it looks like they play(ed?) again this morning against UCLA. I’ll let you know when I discover how that turned out. If I discover how that turned out.
