Galaxy and the Gold Cup: Donovan, Harmse and Jazic

If you look only at the US team, the Galaxy got off easy for the Gold Cup as far as players lost. Well, if you consider losing Landon Donovan getting off easy.

Joe Cannon lost out to those European guys, Tim Howard and Kasey Keller. Oh, and to Chivas USA’s Brad Guzan. (Ouch!! To lose it to a goat! Painful!)

But add in Canadians Kevin Harmse and Ante Jazic and we’re talking triple pain. (LA Soccer news has an interesting interview with Kevin and Ante on the topic. Click here to read it.)

It looks like they USA coach Bob Bradley was set to call up Chris Albright before his injury. Too bad for everybody — we lose the player, but he doesn’t get the caps. From LA Soccer News:

Chris Albright was likely to make this roster, before his injury negated that possibility.

“We’re all very disappointed for Chris,” said Bradley. “We know that he’s facing surgery and we’ll have more information after the surgery is complete. We absolutely wish him a quick and speedy recovery.”

I’ll second that. And a speedy return for everybody else would be nice, too.
