Galaxy are Officially Awesome Against USL

jones-cobi2.jpgI believe that here we have the ever-adorable Cobi Jones and an unnamed Puerto Rico Islander practicing for the can-can revue.

Oh, wait, never mind. This was actually Saturday’s Islanders-Galaxy game. Galaxy 2-1. Chris Albright (he of the Chia Pet hair) scored yet again, this time off a Nate Jaqua assist in the 2nd minute. Puerto Rico equalized in the 5th, but Jaqua came back in the 20th with the game winner. Is anybody else thinking that Nate Jaqua will prove to be the Galaxy’s best acquisition of the year? (Or maybe he and Beckham can share the honors. I’d be good with that.)

The win, combined with last week’s win over the Raging Rhinos, makes the Galaxy the undisputed champions of the USL-MLS challenge. Now let’s hope this carries over into the real season against actual MLS teams.

Again, no Alan Gordon (aka Mr. Herbalife) in the lineup. Now I’m dying to know what’s up with this. Does anybody know if he made the trip to Puerto Rico?

Los Angeles Galaxy – Joe Cannon, Ty Harden, Kyle Veris, Ante Jazic, Chris Albright, Josh Tudela, Ian Russell (Mike Randolph 46′), Cobi Jones (Robbie Findley 80′), Kyle Martino, Nate Jaqua, Santino Quaranta (Nathan Sturgis 80′)
