Galaxy-Chivas Preview
By: Laurie | August 23rd, 2007You know it’s going to be a long season when your injury list is pretty much a Who’s Who of your team roster. Let’s take a look at tonight’s list, shall we?
INJURY REPORT: LOS ANGELES GALAXY – OUT: DF Chris Albright (R hamstring); MF Kelly Gray (R calf); DF Ante Jazic (R ankle); QUESTIONABLE: MF David Beckham (L ankle); MF Cobi Jones (R hip); DF Quavas Kirk (L foot); DF Troy Roberts (R ankle); DF Kyle Veris (R hip); DF Abel Xavier (L knee) …
That would be nine on the list, boys and girls. Nine. MLS schedulers, you did not do us any favors this season.
This is opposed to the Chivas injury list: CHIVAS USA – OUT: DF Carlos Llamosa (L knee ACL surgery); Éder Robles (concussion)
You know what I’ve come to love about Landon Donovan? Okay, several things, including his mercurial nature. But what I love most is the fact that the dude is NEVER hurt! The Galaxy’s Energizer Bunny! US Soccer’s Timex Watch! (Takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’.) Keep it up, Landon. At least as long as you’re with the Galaxy. Which will be long-term. Right?
Ahem. Moving along.
Because I know that your week would be drab and dull without it, here is your now bi-weekly link to your Galaxy Game Guide! As expected, our globetrotters Landon and Becks are not shown as starting. Instead we’re expecting to see Alan Gordon and Carlos Pavon up front, Jones, Harmse, Vagenas and Martino in the middle, and Klein, Xavier, Harden and Randolph in the back.
Is anybody else thinking it might be kind of pointless to put a poacher like Pavon up front with nobody who can really deliver the ball to him? No? Okay, I’m hoping you’re right and I’m wrong.
It’s good to see that Xavier is expected to be back. I wouldn’t want to see another game like the last one, defensively speaking. (Offsensively, though? I’d be okay with it.)
And at least as of yesterday, Yallop was expecting Beckham to make some kind of appearance. I would have said this would definitely be the case if he hadn’t played the full ninety yesterday for England. (Seriously, I’m thinking we should just change McClaren’s first name to Dick.)

Thhis is colculation from another blog.
“- David will land around 1pm, with a police escort he will clear customs and be in a car by 1.30pm.
- He would then travel home, which from any airport would take approximately an hour, so I guess he will arrive home by 2.30pm.
- Players tend to arrive at the stadium 2 hours before kick off to allow pre-match talk, and warm up, so David would need to be at the stadium by 5pm.
- So between 2.30pm and 4pm (allowing an approximately an hour to travel to the stadium), he will have about an hour and a half to say ‘Hi’ to his family, unpack his bags and get a little shut eye.”
I think Yellop not crazy to ask Landon and David to play.
they both need to stay at home and watch match on TV,no game deserves somebody’s health!Posted from

I read that Becks gets a straight flight, first class on British Airways – can sleep all the way.
Donovan (and Bornstein – but he’s on Chivas, so who cares!!) had to get up at 4:00 a.m. Sweden time, travel by bus to catch a 7 a.m. flight to Frankfurt and then straight from Frankfurt to L.A. – all business class.

This is what I get for not visiting BigSoccer for several days in a row.

Donovan’s never hurt because, well, have you ever REALLY seen him get stuck in on a tackle?
